Anti-Spam antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the Spam antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the EYS gene, which encodes eyes shut homolog. This protein is known to be required to maintain the integrity of photoreceptor cells. The human version of Spam has a canonical amino acid length of 3165 residues and a protein mass of 350.8 kilodaltons, although 4 isoforms have been identified. Spam is a member of the EYS protein family.
