Anti-IL23 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target IL23 is a known alias name of the protein interleukin 23 subunit alpha, encoded by the IL23A gene in humans. This 189-amino acid residue protein is reported to associate with IL12B to form the pro-inflammatory cytokine IL-23 that plays different roles in innate and adaptive immunity. The protein is secreted and features post-translational modifications. It is reported to be expressed in the tonsil, testis, lymph node, bone marrow, and appendix. The term IL23P19 is another synonym for IL23.
