Anti-H3K27me3 antibodies are available for the immunodetection of the modified histone H3 protein that is tri-methylated on lysine 27. As a component of the nucleosomes that make up chromatin, histone H3 is often post-translationally modified in the regulation of gene expression. In particular, H3K27me3 is associated with the downregulation of nearby genes. It has been reported that genomic regions enriched with H3K27me3 can function as silencers to repress gene expression via chromatin interactions.
