Anti-Urocortin antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the UCN gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 124 amino acid residues and a mass of 13.5 kDa. It is known to be a secreted protein. A member of the Sauvagine/corticotropin-releasing factor/urotensin I protein family, it is known to act in vitro to stimulate the secretion of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH). Other names for this target antigen include UI, UROC, prepro-urocortin, urocortin, preproprotein, and UCN1. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish and chimpanzee species. A number of Urocortin antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Immunohistochemistry is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Western Blot are also common applications.
