Adenylate cyclase, also known as adenyl clycase or adenylyl cyclase, is an enzyme found in many eukaryotic organisms. It catalyses the conversion of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) to 3',5'-cyclic AMP (cAMP) and pyrophosphate. The cAMP produced by adenylate cyclase can then trigger regulatory signals to cAMP-binding proteins such as transcription factors, kinases, and transporters.
