Anti-TGN46 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target TGN46 is a known alias name of the protein trans-golgi network protein 2, encoded by the TGOLN2 gene in humans. This 437-amino acid residue protein is suspected to be involved in regulating membrane traffic to and from trans-Golgi network. It is localized to the Golgi and cell membrane of the cell and features glycosylated post-translational modifications. It is reported to be widely expressed in many tissue types. Other synonyms for TGN46 include TGN38 and TGN38.
