Anti-Basal cell adhesion molecule (Lutheran blood group) antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene BCAM in humans. The gene may also be known as CD239, Gplu, Lu, MSK19, AU, and Auberger b antigen. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 67.4 kilodaltons in mass. The BCAM marker can be used to identify Blood Vessel Endothelial Cells.* Based on gene name, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
