Anti-Prostaglandin dehydrogenase 1 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target Prostaglandin dehydrogenase 1 is a known alias name of the protein 15-hydroxyprostaglandin dehydrogenase, encoded by the HPGD gene in humans. This 266-amino acid residue protein is known to catalyze the NAD-dependent dehydrogenation (oxidation) of a broad array of hydroxylated polyunsaturated fatty acids (mainly eicosanoids and docosanoids, including prostaglandins, lipoxins and resolvins), yielding their corresponding keto (oxo) metabolites. It is localized to the cytoplasm of the cell. In terms of tissue expression, it is notably expressed in colon epithelium. Other synonyms for Prostaglandin dehydrogenase 1 include 15-PGDH, 15-PGDH, and PGDH. Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry are common applications for Prostaglandin dehydrogenase 1 antibodies.
