Anti-uPA antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target uPA is a known alias name of the protein plasminogen activator, urokinase, encoded by the PLAU gene in humans. This 431-amino acid residue protein is known to be involved in chemotaxis and the regulation of cell migration, among other biological processes. The protein is secreted and features glycosylated, cleaved and phosphorylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be expressed in the prostate gland and prostate cancers.
