Anti-p40 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target p40 is a known alias name of the protein proteasome 26S subunit, non-ATPase 7, encoded by the PSMD7 gene in humans. This 324-amino acid residue protein is a known component of the 26S proteasome, a multiprotein complex involved in the ATP-dependent degradation of ubiquitinated proteins. It is reported to be widely expressed in many tissue types.
