Anti-3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene HMGCR in humans. The gene may also be known as LDLCQ3, 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-Coenzyme A reductase, and 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl CoA reductase (NADPH). Structurally, the protein is reported to be 97.5 kilodaltons in mass. Based on gene name, fly, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
