Anti-Nerve growth factor receptor antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene NGFR in humans. The gene may also be known as CD271, p75(NTR), p75NTR, p75 Neurotrophin Receptor, tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 16, and Gp80-LNGFR. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 45.2 kilodaltons in mass. The NGFR marker can be used to identify Respiratory Suprabasal Cells, Tracheobronchial Tree Basal Epithelial Cells, Airway Submucosal Gland Duct Basal Cells, Epithelium Lobular Bronchiole Basal Cells, and Epithelium Terminal Bronchiole Basal Cells.* Based on gene name, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
