Anti-L-CAD antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the L-CAD antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the CALD1 gene, which encodes caldesmon 1. This protein is known to function in angiogenesis, among other biological roles. The human version of L-CAD has a canonical amino acid length of 793 residues and a protein mass of 93.2 kilodaltons, although 6 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the cytoplasm of cells and notably expressed in many tissues, such as the endometrium and ovary. L-CAD is a member of the Caldesmon protein family.
