Anti-Gyg antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target Gyg is a known alias name of the protein glycogenin 1, encoded by the GYG1 gene in humans. This 350-amino acid residue protein is a member of the Glycosyltransferase 8 protein family. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be highly expressed in skeletal muscle and heart, with lower levels in the brain, lung, kidney and pancreas. The term GSD15 is another synonym for Gyg. Western Blot and Immunofluorescence are common applications for Gyg antibodies.
