Anti-Prolactin antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the PRL gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 227 amino acid residues and a mass of 25.9 kDa. It is known to be a secreted protein. A member of the Somatotropin/prolactin protein family, it is known to be involved with receptor-mediated signaling pathways and the regulation of angiogenesis. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Other names for this target antigen include decidual prolactin, growth hormone A1, and GHA1. Gene orthologs have been identified in the rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species.
