Anti-TCN1 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein transcobalamin 1. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 433 amino acid residues and a mass of 48.2 kDa. It has been described to be a secreted protein. A member of the Eukaryotic cobalamin transport proteins protein family, TCN1 is known to bind vitamin B12 with femtomolar affinity and protects it from the acidic environment of the stomach. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include TC-1, TC1, TCI, haptocorin, haptocorrin, and HC. TCN1 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine and chimpanzee species. Some TCN1 antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
