Anti-SMC1B antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein structural maintenance of chromosomes 1B. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1235 amino acid residues and a mass of 143.9 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus. Up to 3 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably expressed in the testis. A member of the SMC protein family, SMC1B is reported to be a meiosis-specific component of cohesin complex. Synonyms for this target antigen include SMC1L2, structural maintenance of chromosomes protein 1B, SMC protein 1B, SMC1 (structural maintenance of chromosomes 1, yeast)-like 1, and SMC1BETA. SMC1B gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species. Western Blot is the most common application for the SMC1B antibodies listed below. ELISA, Immunofluorescence, and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
