Anti-RBP3 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein retinol binding protein 3. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1247 amino acid residues and a mass of 135.4 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the extracellular matrix and is secreted. It is notably expressed in the retina. A member of the Peptidase S41A protein family, RBP3 is known to be involved with the metabolism of lipids and proteolysis. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. The RBP3 marker can be used to identify Upper Rhombic Lip Neurons.* Synonyms for this target antigen include D10S65, D10S66, IRBP, RBPI, RP66, and D10S64. RBP3 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
