Anti-OSTbeta antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the OSTbeta antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the SLC51B gene, which encodes solute carrier family 51 subunit beta. This protein is an important component of the Ost-alpha/Ost-beta complex, a heterodimer that acts as the intestinal basolateral transporter responsible for bile acid export from enterocytes into portal blood. The human version of OSTbeta has a canonical amino acid length of 128 residues and a protein mass of 14.3 kilodaltons. It is reported to be localized in the cell membrane of cells and notably expressed in many tissues, such as the appendix and colon. OSTbeta is a member of the OST-beta protein family.
