Anti-phospholipase C, beta 1 (phosphoinositide-specific) antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target phospholipase C, beta 1 (phosphoinositide-specific) is a known alias name of the protein phospholipase C beta 1, encoded by the PLCB1 gene in humans. This 1216-amino acid residue protein is known to catalyze the hydrolysis of 1-phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate into diacylglycerol (DAG) and inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) and mediates intracellular signaling downstream of G protein-coupled receptors. It is localized to the nucleus and cytoplasm of the cell and features palmitoylated post-translational modifications. It is reported to be expressed in the hippocampus, duodenum, cerebral cortex, caudate, and appendix. Other synonyms for phospholipase C, beta 1 (phosphoinositide-specific) include DEE12, EIEE12, and PI-PLC.
