Anti-PDE8B antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein phosphodiesterase 8B. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 885 amino acid residues and a mass of 99 kDa. Up to 6 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is found to be highly expressed in the thyroid. A member of the Cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase protein family, PDE8B is reported to hydrolyze the second messenger cAMP, which is a key regulator of many important physiological processes. The PDE8B gene has been associated with the disease, Striatal degeneration. Synonyms for this target antigen include PPNAD3, high affinity cAMP-specific and IBMX-insensitive 3',5'-cyclic phosphodiesterase 8B, 3',5' cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase 8B, cell proliferation-inducing gene 22 protein, and ADSD. PDE8B gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry are common applications for PDE8B antibodies.
