Anti-MYCN antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein MYCN proto-oncogene, bHLH transcription factor. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 464 amino acid residues and a mass of 49.6 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus. It is reported to be expressed in the neuronal cells of the cerebrum, neuroblastomas and thyroid tumors. Among its functions, MYCN is involved with astrocyte differentiation and lung development. Post-translational modifications have been described, including phosphorylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include MYCNsORF, MYCNsPEP, N-myc, NMYC, ODED, bHLHe37, N-myc proto-oncogene protein, and MODED.
