Anti-hippocalcin like 1 antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the HPCAL1 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 193 amino acid residues and a mass of 22.3 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the membrane. A member of the Recoverin protein family, it is suspected to be involved in the calcium-dependent regulation of rhodopsin phosphorylation. Other names for this target antigen include HLP2, VILIP-3, hippocalcin-like protein 1, calcium-binding protein BDR-1, visinin-like protein 3, and BDR1. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species. Some hippocalcin like 1 antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
