Anti-N-acetylneuraminic acid synthase antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the N-acetylneuraminic acid synthase antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the NANS gene, which encodes N-acetylneuraminate synthase. The human version of N-acetylneuraminic acid synthase has a canonical amino acid length of 359 residues and a protein mass of 40.3 kilodaltons. It is reported to be widely expressed in many tissue types. Other names for this target antigen include HEL-S-100, SAS, and SEMDCG.
