Anti-metallothionein 2A antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the MT2A gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 61 amino acid residues and a mass of 6 kDa. It is a member of the Metallothionein protein superfamily. Other names for this target antigen include MT-II, MT2, metallothionein-2, metallothionein-II, and MT-2. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse and chimpanzee species. A number of metallothionein 2A antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Immunohistochemistry is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Western Blot are also common applications.
