Anti-EGFL6 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein EGF like domain multiple 6. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 553 amino acid residues and a mass of 61.3 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the extracellular matrix and is secreted. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably expressed in the placenta. A member of the Nephronectin protein family, EGFL6 is believed to bind integrin alpha-8/beta-1 and play a role in hair follicle morphogenesis. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include W80, epidermal growth factor-like protein 6, EGF repeat-containing protein 6, EGF-like protein 6, MAM and EGF domain containing, and MAEG. EGFL6 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of EGFL6 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. ELISA is a widely used application for these antibodies. Immunofluorescence and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
