Anti-Carboxypeptidase O antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene CPO in humans. The gene may also be known as metallocarboxypeptidase C, and metallocarboxypeptidase O. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 42.5 kilodaltons in mass. Based on gene name, fly, canine, porcine, monkey and rat orthologs may also be found.
