Anti-PGI antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the PGI antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the PGPEP1 gene, which encodes pyroglutamyl-peptidase I. This protein is known to function in proteolysis, among other biological roles. The human version of PGI has a canonical amino acid length of 209 residues and a protein mass of 23.1 kilodaltons, although 2 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the cytoplasm of cells and widely expressed in many tissue types. Other names for this target antigen include PAP-I and PGP. Western Blot is the most common application for the PGI antibodies listed below. ELISA, Immunocytochemistry, and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
