Anti-lipase A, lysosomal acid, cholesterol esterase antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target lipase A, lysosomal acid, cholesterol esterase is a known alias name of the protein lipase A, lysosomal acid type, encoded by the LIPA gene in humans. This 399-amino acid residue protein is known to catalyze the deacylation of triacylglyceryl and cholesteryl ester core lipids of endocytosed low density lipoproteins to generate free fatty acids and cholesterol. It is localized to the lysosomes of the cell and features glycosylated post-translational modifications. It is reported to be expressed in many tissues, such as the cerebellum and duodenum. Other synonyms for lipase A, lysosomal acid, cholesterol esterase include CESD, LAL, and lysosomal acid lipase/cholesteryl ester hydrolase.
