Anti-CNTFR antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein ciliary neurotrophic factor receptor. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 372 amino acid residues and a mass of 40.6 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane. It is notably expressed in many tissues, such as the caudate, testis, and appendix. A member of the Type I cytokine receptor protein family, CNTFR is known to bind to CNTF. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include CNTF receptor subunit alpha, CNTFR-alpha, and ciliary neurotrophic factor receptor subunit alpha. CNTFR gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species.
