Anti-CAPG antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein capping actin protein, gelsolin like. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 348 amino acid residues and a mass of 38.5 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus and cytoplasm. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably expressed in many tissues, such as the kidney and lung. A member of the Villin/gelsolin protein family, CAPG is reported to be a calcium-sensitive protein, which reversibly blocks the barbed ends of actin filaments but does not sever preformed actin filaments. Synonyms for this target antigen include HEL-S-66, MCP, macrophage-capping protein, actin-regulatory protein CAP-G, capping protein (actin filament), gelsolin-like, and AFCP. CAPG gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of CAPG antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA, Immunocytochemistry, Immunofluorescence, and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
