Anti-MLEC antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein malectin. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 292 amino acid residues and a mass of 32.2 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the ER. A member of the Malectin protein family, MLEC is known to be involved with carbohydrate metabolism and homeostasis. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include KIAA0152 and oligosaccharyltransferase complex subunit (non-catalytic). MLEC gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Some MLEC antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Immunohistochemistry is a widely used application for these antibodies. In addition, Western Blot is also a common application.
