Anti-MCAT antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein malonyl-CoA-acyl carrier protein transacylase. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 390 amino acid residues and a mass of 43 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the mitochondria. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. A member of the Type II malonyltransferase protein family, MCAT is known to catalyze the transfer of a malonyl moiety from malonyl-CoA to the free thiol group of the phosphopantetheine arm of the mitochondrial ACP protein (NDUFAB1). Synonyms for this target antigen include MCT, MCT1, MT, NET62, fabD, and FASN2C. MCAT gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Some MCAT antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. In addition, Immunofluorescence is also a common application.
