Anti-Thyroid peroxidase antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene TPO in humans. The gene may also be known as MSA, TDH2A, TPX, thyroid microsomal antigen, and thyroperoxidase. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 103 kilodaltons in mass and antibodies to the TPO antigen may be useful for studying hormones and growth factor signaling. Based on gene name, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
