Anti-RAD51C antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein RAD51 paralog C. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 376 amino acid residues and a mass of 42.2 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus, mitochondria, and cytoplasm. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 2 different isoforms for this protein. It is reported to be expressed in a variety of tissues, with highest expression in testis, heart muscle, spleen and prostate. A member of a the RecA protein family, RAD51C is known to be important for the homologous recombination (HR) pathway of DNA repair. Synonyms for this target antigen include FANCO, R51H3, RAD51L2, DNA repair protein RAD51 homolog 3, RAD51-like protein 2, yeast RAD51 homolog 3, and BROVCA3.
