Anti-JV18 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target JV18 is a known alias name of the protein SMAD family member 2, encoded by the SMAD2 gene in humans. This 467-amino acid residue protein is a known receptor-regulated SMAD (R-SMAD) that is an intracellular signal transducer and transcriptional modulator activated by TGF-beta (transforming growth factor) and activin type 1 receptor kinases. It is localized to the nucleus and cytoplasm of the cell and features ubiquitinated, acetylated and phosphorylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is notably expressed at high levels in skeletal muscle, endothelial cells, heart and placenta. Other synonyms for JV18 include CHTD8 and JV18-1. Western Blot is a widely used application for the JV18 antibodies listed below. In addition, ELISA is also a common application.
