Anti-IGHM antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein immunoglobulin heavy constant mu. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 474 amino acid residues and a mass of 51.9 kDa. It has been described to be a secreted protein. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. IGHM is known to be involved with adaptive immune responses and innate immune responses. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. The IGHM marker can be used to identify Immature B Cells and Naive B Cells.* Over 1000 citations in the literature describe the use of Ighm antibodies in research. Flow Cytometry is a widely used application for these antibodies. In addition, Immunohistochemistry is also a common application.
