Anti-COL11A2 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein collagen type XI alpha 2 chain. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1736 amino acid residues and a mass of 171.8 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the extracellular matrix and is secreted. Up to 9 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. A member of the Fibrillar collagen protein family, COL11A2 is believed to play an important role in fibrillogenesis by controlling lateral growth of collagen II fibrils. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include DFNB53, FBCG2, HKE5, OSMEDA, OSMEDB, PARP, STL3, and DFNA13. COL11A2 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog and chimpanzee species. A number of COL11A2 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. In addition, Immunohistochemistry is also a common application.
