Anti-AOX1 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein aldehyde oxidase 1. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1338 amino acid residues and a mass of 147.9 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasm. It is notably expressed in the liver, expressed in adipose tissue and at lower levels in the lung, skeletal muscle, pancreas. A member of the Xanthine dehydrogenase protein family, AOX1 is known to be involved with the metabolism of lipids. Synonyms for this target antigen include AOH1, aldehyde oxidase, azaheterocycle hydroxylase, and AO. AOX1 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish and chicken species. A number of Aox1 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
