Anti-CFAP418 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein cilia and flagella associated protein 418. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 207 amino acid residues and a mass of 23.4 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasm. It is found to be widely expressed, with highest levels in the heart and brain. CFAP418 is suspected to be involved in photoreceptor outer segment disk morphogenesis (By similarity). The CFAP418 gene has been associated with the disease, Cone-rod dystrophy. Synonyms for this target antigen include Bardet-Biedl syndrome 21 and protein C8orf37. CFAP418 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
