Anti-hemo antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the hemo antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the ERVMER34-1 gene, which encodes endogenous retrovirus group MER34 member 1, envelope. The human version of hemo has a canonical amino acid length of 563 residues and a protein mass of 63.5 kilodaltons. It is reported to be localized in the cell membrane of cells and notably expressed in the testis. hemo is a member of the Gamma type-C retroviral envelope protein family.
