Anti-FKBP prolyl isomerase family member 15 antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the FKBP15 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1219 amino acid residues and a mass of 133.6 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasm. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 3 different isoforms for this protein. A member of the FKBP-type PPIase protein family, it is suspected to be involved in the cytoskeletal organization of neuronal growth cones. Other names for this target antigen include KIAA0674, PPP1R76, FK506-binding protein 15, 133 kDa FK506-binding protein, 133 kDa FKBP, and FKBP133. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species.
