Anti-alsin Rho guanine nucleotide exchange factor ALS2 antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the ALS2 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1657 amino acid residues and a mass of 183.6 kDa. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 3 different isoforms for this protein. It is believed to act as a GTPase regulator. The gene encoding this protein is implicated in Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Other names for this target antigen include ALS2, alsin Rho guanine nucleotide exchange factor, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis 2 (juvenile), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis 2 chromosomal region candidate gene 6 protein, and alsin. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
