Anti-DLEC1 cilia and flagella associated protein antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the DLEC1 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1755 amino acid residues and a mass of 195.7 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasm. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 3 different isoforms for this protein. It is reported to be expressed in all tissues examined. It is known to be important for spermatogenesis and male fertility (By similarity). The gene encoding this protein is implicated in Lung cancer. Other names for this target antigen include DLC-1, DLC1, F56, FAP81, deleted in lung and esophageal cancer protein 1, and CFAP81. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
