Anti-SEPTIN9 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein septin 9. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 586 amino acid residues and a mass of 65.4 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasm. Up to 8 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is widely expressed across many tissue types. It is a member of the Septin GTPase protein family. The SEPTIN9 gene has been associated with the disease, Hereditary neuralgic amyotrophy. Synonyms for this target antigen include MSF, MSF1, NAPB, PNUTL4, SINT1, SeptD1, MLL septin-like fusion protein MSF-A, and AF17q25. SEPTIN9 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species.
