Anti-amylase alpha 2A antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the AMY2A gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 511 amino acid residues and a mass of 57.7 kDa. It is known to be a secreted protein. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 2 different isoforms for this protein. It is notably expressed in the pancreas. A member of the Glycosyl hydrolase 13 protein family, it is known to be involved with carbohydrate metabolism and homeostasis. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Other names for this target antigen include PA, 1,4-alpha-D-glucan glucanohydrolase, amylase alpha 2A (pancreatic), glycogenase, and AMY2.
