Anti-cilia and flagella associated protein 410 antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the CFAP410 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 256 amino acid residues and a mass of 28.3 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the mitochondria and cytoplasm. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 4 different isoforms for this protein. It is widely expressed across many tissue types. It is reported to play a role in cilia formation and/or maintenance (By similarity). The gene encoding this protein is implicated in Retinal dystrophy with or without macular staphyloma. Other names for this target antigen include LRRC76, RDMS, SMDAX, YF5/A2, nuclear encoded mitochondrial protein C21orf2, and C21orf2. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
