A member of the Ligand-gated ion channel (TC 1.A.9) protein family, it is known to be involved with brain development and the regulation of apoptosis. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. The gene encoding this protein is implicated in Developmental and epileptic encephalopathy.
