Anti-LIF interleukin 6 family cytokine antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the LIF gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 202 amino acid residues and a mass of 22 kDa. It is known to be a secreted protein. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 2 different isoforms for this protein. A member of the LIF/OSM protein family, it is known to be involved with immune response pathways and lung development. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Other names for this target antigen include DIA, MLPLI, leukemia inhibitory factor, D factor, and CDF. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species.
