Anti-MAGUK p55 scaffold protein 2 antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the MPP2 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 576 amino acid residues and a mass of 64.6 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasm. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 6 different isoforms for this protein. A member of the MAGUK protein family, it is known to be involved with protein oligomerization. Post-translational modifications have been described, including phosphorylation. Other names for this target antigen include MAGUK p55 subfamily member 2, discs large, homolog 2, membrane palmitoylated protein 2, membrane protein, palmitoylated 2 (MAGUK p55 subfamily member 2), and DLG2. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
